CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte women's soccer team used three unanswered goals to win 3-2, on Friday, September 15 versus Memphis. The game was the Conference USA opener for both teams.
Charlotte got on the board late in the first half when freshman Jill Hayes and senior preseason all-conference Meredith Mayo found sophomore midfielder Dawn Geyer streaking down the right side. Memphis midfielder Michele Meehan had put the Tigers on the board earlier at the 16:17 mark of the first half.
The second half opened with Mikel Casey heading in a corner kick off the foot of Jill Currie to put the 49ers up 2-1 at 49:55. A little more than three minutes later, at 52:57, sophomore Laura Lockwood found the back of the net after receiving a crossing pass from Lindsay Duncan to score her first collegiate goal.
