CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Charlotte women's soccer team lost at #1 North Carolina, 5-0, in their first game of the Carolina Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The main highlight of the match for Charlotte was goalkeeper Jenn Howell stopping a North Carolina penalty kick by midfielder Jordan Walker. Howell dove to her left, low to the ground, to stop the attempt.

North Carolina led 1-0 at halftime, despite outshooting the 49ers, 11-2. Then, North Carolina scored four second half goals including two within the first five minutes of the second half. Overall, the defending National Champions contained the 49ers offense, as they did not allow a shot in the second half.

Charlotte returns to action when the face Duke, Sunday, September 9, in the Carolina Classic. The match sets up a rematch versus former 49er head coach Robbie Church, now the head coach at Duke.
