Student Assistant Coach - First Season

Jenna Brenes, after a solid four-year playing career for the 49ers, has joined the coaching staff as a student assistant coach while completing her degree requirements in Exercise Science. The Colony, Texas native saw action in 66 games with 45 starts during her four-year career at Charlotte. She finished her career with two goals and seven assists. She played in the midfield for her first two seasons at Charlotte, but finished her career as a defender her final two seasons. Over the past two seasons, Brenes anchored a defense that recorded 8 shutouts and limited 19 foes to a goal or less. As a senior in 2005, she helped the 49ers capture the Carolinas' Cup title with victories over Furman and South Carolina. For her efforts in the tournament, she was named to the Carolinas' Cup All-Tournament team. She recorded assists in victories over Marshall and Xavier last season. As a freshman in 2002, she scored her two career goals in the 49ers Conference USA regular season title clinching win at Louisville. She saw action in 19 games with six starts in playing a major role while helping the 49ers record the greatest season in the program's history as the 49ers finished the regular season undefeated and ranked #9 in the nation en route to earning the program's second-ever bid to the NCAA Tournament.
