Dog days of summer...
Hey guys! Haven't heard from me in a while huh? Well, I have been relaxing for just a minute since the spring session ended. It was nice to have a bit of a break, work on the tan, and not use my "Coaching" voice for a while. However...what I have discovered is that it doesn't take me very long to get bored when I am away from basketball. I got my fix for awhile with the NBA playoffs and then they ended, so all I can say is CAMP IS HERE. We start camp today and have a full four days of it and then we take a week off and have our Day camp for the little youngsters that dream of being stars for Charlotte. Today's camp is a high intensity camp which I really enjoy, and then Friday afternoon, about 95 teams roll in here for team camp for the weekend. We were so excited about how many high schools and club teams are coming to play on our campus. It is a chance for them to see Charlotte and in particular, our staff gets to know lots of players and awesome coaches across our great state. So, back to the real stuff today!!!
Just a little update on the 49ers.....they have been in and out the first summer session. Some are here in school, and some are at home with families. They are all training hard, and will be arriving July 5th for the second summer session all together. This is a time when they can bond together and spend some time without the coaches building chemistry and working together. I think they really enjoy this, and it is very beneficial. On the academic side, it gives them a chance to catch up on some classes that may not be available in the regular school year. Speaking of academics, I was so proud of our team! I have to brag on them for reaching their goal in the fall of a 3.0 GPA as a team. They did this and I can assure you it was a direct reflection of their excellence on the floor also.....as you know it all goes hand in hand!
Ok, well, I have to get on the floor and start camp, and you know I am smiling. Hey, it's basketball. How could you not be smiling.
Till next time, THINK GREEN!
GO NINERS!
