Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers women's basketball's junior forward Ashley Spriggs was named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the first time in her career after her performance last weekend in the Hoops For the Cure Tournament in Dallas, Texas. She recorded her first two career 20-point scoring games against Fresno State and SMU. She connected on two free throws with seven seconds left which proved to be the difference in the 49ers 70-69 win over Fresno State, Friday. Then, she hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer in the 49ers 76-74 win over SMU, Saturday.
For the week, she averaged 16.7 points and seven rebounds in the 49ers three games. She scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds in Charlotte's other game last week against Wake Forest, Wednesday.
