Gregory and Burgin Earn NCCSIA All-State Honors

Sabrina Gregory and Danielle Burgin are both first time NCCSIA All-State selections

Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers women's basketball's junior guard Sabrina Gregory and sophomore center Danielle Burgin were named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State women's basketball team. Gregory earned first-team All-State honors. While, Burgin was named to the second-team.

Gregory and Burgin played integral roles in helping the 49ers make a school-record fifth straight postseason appearance and reach the second round of the WNIT.

Gregory had a career-year for the 49ers last season. She earned third-team All-Atlantic 10 honors as well as being named to the A-10 All-Defensive and All-Academic teams. She ranked among the league leaders in scoring with a team-leading 14.3 points per game. She was named Atlantic 10 player of the week after scoring a career-high 26 points in Charlotte's win over Old Dominion. She was second in the A-10 with a team-leading 139 assists. Her career-high 139 assists this season is the fifth highest single-season total in school history. Gregory, who ranked second in the A-10 in field goal percentage (.535), was the only perimeter player ranked in the top 14 players with the highest field goal percentage in the league. Gregory, who guards the opposition's top wing player majority of the time, earned the all-defensive team honors after ranking fourth in the league with a career-high 70 steals.

She scored in double-figures 25 times last season and she finished the season with 14 straight double-figure scoring games. She also scored at least 20 points in seven games.

Burgin ranked fifth in the A-10 in blocked shots with a team-leading 48 blocks, which is tied for the fourth highest single-season total in school history. She ranked sixth in the league with a team-leading 7.5 rebounds per game. After averaging only 4.0 points per game last season as a freshman, she finished second on the team in scoring with 11.0 points per game. She was also second on the team and 12th in the A-10 in field goal percentage (.472).

This season, Burgin scored in double-figures 20 times. She recorded her first three career doubles-doubles with 14 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in the 49ers win at Clemson. She scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Charlotte's win at Richmond. She scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the 49ers first round WNIT win over High Point.

Burgin earned A-10 player of the week honors after scoring a career-high 24 points on 10-for-12 shooting from the field in Charlotte's win at Saint Louis. She grabbed seven rebounds and blocked a career-high four shots in the game.

The all-state team consists of NCAA Division I student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities. Nominees are submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals. NCCSIA members voted for the all-state team.
