Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers women's basketball senior guard Sabrina Gregory (Fayetteville, NC/E.E. Smith HS) was named for the second straight season to the first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III women's basketball team, selected by CoSIDA. As a result of being named first-team academic all-district, Gregory will represent the district on a national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
Gregory, who has a 3.74 GPA in Mathematics for Business, was selected to the Division I-AAA Athletic Directors Association Scholar-Athlete team last spring. She was named to the A-10 Academic All-Conference team last spring as well.
Gregory, who was a preseason second-team All-Atlantic 10 selection, currently is second on the team in scoring (10.7 ppg) with 14 double-figure scoring games this season. She recorded her first two career double-doubles this season in Charlotte wins over Duquesne and La Salle. She has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week twice this season. In the Temple game, she recorded seven assists to reach the 100 assists mark for the second straight season. Earlier this season, she became the 15th player in school history to score 1,000 career points and she currently has scored 1,205 career points which is the 11th highest total in school history.
Last season, Gregory was named third-team All-Atlantic 10 as well as to the A-10 All-Defensive team in her first season as a starter after coming off the bench her first two seasons with the 49ers.
Gregory and the rest of the 49ers return to action when they host A-10 foe St. Bonaventure in Halton Arena, Saturday, February 9 at 7 pm.
