Charlotte games notes for the Saint Louis game ![]()
The Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team, who have won five straight games including their first two Atlantic 10 games, host long-time conference foe Saint Louis in Atlantic 10 action, Saturday, January 19 at 7 pm in Halton Arena. This game has been designated as Charlotte 49ers Women's Basketball Alumni Day as the team welcomes back former 49ers women's basketball standouts.
Charlotte has posted a 75-14 record in Halton Arena over the past seven years. During that stretch, the 49ers have made five straight postseason tournament appearances and have posted first-round WNIT victories at home in each of the last two years.
Senior guard Sabrina Gregory, who leads the 49ers in scoring, steals and assists, was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week this week after recording her first career double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds in Charlotte's 67-57 win at Duquesne last Saturday. Danielle Burgin, who is second on the team in scoring and leads the team in rebounding, has tallied six double-doubles this season. Erin Floyd, who is third on the team in scoring and second in rebounding, has collected her first two career double-doubles this season. Traci Ray, who is fourth on the team in scoring, joins Gregory amongst the league leaders in assists.
This game will mark the 19th meeting between Charlotte and Saint Louis. The 49ers have played Saint Louis every season since the two schools joined Conference USA in 1995. Charlotte leads the all-time series 14-4 after winning nine straight in the series including a 77-65 win in their last meeting which was at Saint Louis, February 3, 2007. Burgin was named A-10 Co-Player of the Week after scoring a career-high 24 points in that game.
Admission to the Saint Louis game is $5 for adults and $2 for youth (17-and-under). While Charlotte 49ers student with a valid ID are admitted free.
