Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers women's basketball senior guard Sabrina Gregory (Fayetteville, NC/E.E. Smith HS) was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week for the second time this season and their time in her career after recording her first career double-double in the 49ers 67-57 win at A-10 foe Duquesne last Saturday.
Gregory scored 20 points and tallied her first career double-figure rebounding game with 11 boards against Duquesne. She scored 18 of her 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the 49ers decisive second half since Charlotte trailed Duquesne, 36-33, at halftime. She shot 70% (7-10) from the field and was a perfect 6-6 from the line. She scored 10 of her 20 points during a 16-4 second half run where the 49ers took the lead for good.
The senior guard leads the 49ers in scoring (11.8 points per game), assists (71) and steals (33). She also leads the Atlantic 10 in free throw shooting at 85.7%.
Gregory claimed her first career A-10 Player of the Week award (December 18, 2006) after scoring a career-high 26 points in the 49ers win over Old Dominion last season. Then, she earned her second career A-10 Player of the Week award earlier this season (December 17) after scoring a game-high 19 points with four rebounds, six assists and six steals in the 49ers 76-55 win over Virginia Tech, December 16.
Gregory and the rest of the 49ers women's basketball team puts their four-game winning streak on the line when they host Massachusetts in their A-10 home opener, Tuesday, January 15 in a special Education Day start time of 12 pm.
