CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte (8-5, 0-0 C-USA) plays their first Conference USA game of the season Friday, when they host East Carolina (7-5, 0-0 C-USA) at 7:00 in Halton Arena. Both teams enter this week's game riding a two-game win streak. The 49ers are coming off convincing wins over Texas A&M and UNC Asheville, while the Pirates defeated George Mason, 76-69, and Gardner-Webb, 87-59.

It will be the first of back-to-back games between the 49ers and Pirates as the teams square off again next Sunday, Jan. 19 in Greenville. The Niners lead the series with the Pirates by a 16-6 count. The team's traded wins last year with the home team winning each meeting. Charlotte won, 54-39, in Halton, while East Carolina won, 62-57, at Minges Coliseum.

Last Time Out: Four players scored in double figures to lead the 49ers to an 85-47 victory over UNC Asheville Jan. 5. Charlotte took control early with a 12-0 lead and eventually led by as many as 39 in the game. The Niners hit 10 three-pointers for the second time of the season to match the school record. Krystion Obie led the way with a career-high 15 points. Alicia Abernathy had her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Up Next For The Niners: There won't be much scouting work to do after this week's game with East Carolina since Charlotte will play them again in their next game, Jan. 19 in Greenville. The 49ers are 6-4 against the Pirates in Greenville, including a 62-57 loss there last season. Charlotte's last win over East Carolina on the road was during the 1997-98 season, when they picked up a 45-41 victory.
