NEW ORLEANS - Tulane used a 26-7 run midway through the second half to post a 78-64 win over the Charlotte 49ers women's basketball team Sunday afternoon at Fogelman Arena.

Tulane (10-5, 3-0 C-USA) post players Janell Burse, Gwen Slaughter and Teana McKiver combined for 48 of the Green Wave's 78 points and totalled 24 rebounds. Burse led the way with 23 points and 13 rebounds, going 11-of-15 from the field. Peaches Harris was the leading scorer for Charlotte (4-9, 0-3 C-USA), finishing with a career-high 25 points. Tonya Phifer finished the day with 19 points.

The Green Wave took an early lead in the first half, and led 27-14 with 7:40 left in the period before the 49ers trimmed their deficit to just one, 33-32, with 1:51 left in the half and went into the locker room trailing, 37-34. Charlotte continued its surge in the second half and took its only lead of the game, 42-41, on a Harris three-pointer with 17:36 to play. Burse answered with a lay-up to start a 13-2 run and give Tulane the lead for good.

The Niners return to action Sunday, Jan. 14, when they host Saint Louis at 1:00 in Halton Arena.
