Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers senior men's tennis player Zvi Lantsberg (Beer-Sheva, Israel) has been named to the first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III At-Large team for the third straight season. The at-large team, selected by CoSIDA, consists of student-athletes that participated in bowling, golf, rifle, men's volleyball, gymnastics, skiing, water polo, ice hockey, swimming, wrestling, tennis and lacrosse.
Lantsberg has a 3.88 GPA in international business and finance. This past season, he was named the Atlantic 10's student-athlete of the year for men's tennis. He played a major role in helping the 49ers make the program's first-ever appearance in a conference championship match when they reached the A-10 finals in early April. He finished second on the team with a career-high 17 singles victories mostly at number four singles. Lantsberg finished off his playing career at Charlotte on a high note with seven victories in his final nine matches.
As a result of being named first-team academic all-district, he will represent the district on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors. Ola Jonsson (first-team, 2002) and Chris Mark (second-team, 1992-93) are the only two Charlotte men's tennis players to ever earn Academic All-American honors.
