Roy Sichel was named student-athlete of the week after leading the 49ers to the championship match of the Atlantic 10 tournament this past weekend.
He posted three straight sets victories at number one singles in the A-10 tournament. He defeated George Washington's Mustafa Gencsoy, 6-2, 6-3, in the quarterfinals. Then, he posted a 6-0, 6-0 win over Temple's Jordan Krevitz in the semifinals. He defeated Richmond's Doug Banker, 6-3, 6-3, in the A-10 championship match.
He also teamed with senior Jean-Michel to record a number two doubles win against George Washington.
Sichel finished the season on an 11-match winning streak en route to a 30-7 singles record. The 30 singles wins is the second most in a single-season in school history.
