Niners Begin to Compile Victories in Early Fall

Chapel Hill, NC - The Charlotte 49ers sent players to the UNC Invitational in Chapel Hill over the weekend.

Newcomer Jeff Archer had the most successful weekend, advancing to the finals of the garnet singles bracket before falling to Scott Myers of Davidson 6-1, 6-0. Archer took out three competitors along the way, losing only two games in his first two matches and needing tiebreaker points in the third match. He did not lose a set until the finals.

Morritz Bernhoester dropped his opening match, but won the consolation bracket in the orange bracket. He did not drop a set on the consolation side, defeating teammate Alex Glass in the consolation final 6-1, 6-3. Glass did not lose a set on his side of the consolation bracket to the final.

Doubles play was suspended on Friday and not concluded.

Three other Niners won at least one singles match on the weekend.
