Monroeville, Pa. - The Charlotte 49ers men's tennis team finished its season with a fourth-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships this weekend, falling to St. Bonaventure 4-3 in the third-place game at the Club 4 Life Sunday. The Niners finish 9-15 this season.
The Niners won the doubles point after injuries caused a shuffling of the line-up this weekend. Senior Felix Bernhoerster and freshman Chris Huynh recorded their first win in their first doubles appearance together, while Michael Anders and Jesse Hutchinson went to 2-0 together this weekend to garner the doubles point for Charlotte.
In singles play, Charlotte got wins at number-four (Ricky Cuellar) and number-six (Jeff Archer, his second of the year).
"It was a tough match," said Niners head coach Jim Boykin. We had a key player out with injury and it caused us to move guys around. We got that doubles point, but could not finish them off in singles. It was a tough match, as they all are with us."
