Charleston, S.C. - Charlotte got singles wins from freshmen Moritz Bernhoerster and Chris Huynh, but fell 5-2 at The Citadel Saturday morning in men's tennis action.
The Niners fall to 8-10 on the season, with a home match against Appalachian State on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
"The Citadel has a solid team in a solid conference," said head coach Jim Boykin. "They played well. They took some of the fight out of us with their solid play. We have a tough match ahead Monday and some tough ones after that and we need to play these kinds of matches. None of these coming up are easy and it will help prepare us for a tough A-10 tournament down the road."
The younger Bernhoerster is now 16-9 in singles play, leading the team in singles victories. Huynh is 10-5 since joining the team at the semester break.
Charlotte follows the Monday home match with a Wednesday home date with Furman and a Saturday home match against Boston College. Charlotte has four home matches in a row to end the regular season.
