Men's Tennis Falls To C-USA Rival Memphis, 5-2

Charlotte returns to action, Saturday, March 16 at nationally ranked Virginia Tech

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte men's tennis team lost to Conference USA rival #59 Memphis, 5-2.

Memphis won two of the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point. In number one doubles, Charlotte's Ola Jonsson and Joakim Peterson defeated Memphis' Ben Stapp and Lee Walker, 8-3. In number two doubles, Charlotte's Jonathan McGovern and Marlo Santoso lost to Memphis' Joe Schmulian and Michael Chamberlain, 8-5. In number three doubles, Charlotte's Jacob Nordwall and Jonathan Clark lost to Memphis' Alex Bucewicz and Michael Lahaie, 8-5.

Memphis won four of the six singles matches. In number one singles, Charlotte's Jonsson defeated Memphis' Ben Stapp, 6-2, 7-5. In number two singles, Charlotte's Nordwall defeated Memphis' Schmulian, 6-4, 6-1. In number three singles, Charlotte's Joakim Peterson lost to Memphis' Magney, 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. In number four singles, Charlotte's David Bolin lost to Memphis' Walker, 6-4, 6-0. In number five singles, Charlotte's McGovern lost to Memphis' Bucewicz, 6-2, 6-3. In number six singles, Charlotte's Santoso lost to Memphis' Chamberlain, 6-3, 6-3.
