Niners Men's Tennis Drops Tight Home Match to Wofford

Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers men's tennis team dropped a tight home result, 4-3 to Wofford at the Phillips Tennis Complex Wednesday. Charlotte slides to 8-9, while Wofford improves to 6-7.
After winning the doubles point, Wofford was able to split the singles matches with the Niners to come away with the 4-3 win. The match is the fifth straight in which Charlotte played to a 4-3 decision, but the first in that stretch that Charlotte came up on the short end of the decision.
"It was a really good match," said coach Jim Boykin. "It was no surprise that it was close, but it was a great team match. Wofford just had enough to win today. Our guys played really well and showed good fight today."
The Charlotte freshmen, Michael Anders, Moritz Bernhoerster and Chris Huynh, all won their singles matches. Bernhoerster and Huynh won in straight sets, while Anders needed a third set to win at number three. Andres is 14-9 in singles play, while Huynh is 9-5 and Moritz Bernhoerster is 15-9.
Charlotte travels to The Citadel for a Saturday match at 11 a.m.
