Mt. Vernon, Va. - The Charlotte 49ers men's tennis team won for the fourth straight time and improved to 2-1 in Atlantic 10 play with a 403 win at George Washington Thursday. Charlotte has won all four consecutive matches by the 4-3 margin.

"GW is the team to beat in the A-10 as they got off to a great start and beat some conference teams pretty badly," said Niners head coach Jim Boykin. "We missed some chances and lost the doubles point. After dropping that, our guys fought back to win four of the six singles. It was a great match for us, one of our best this year."

After dropping the doubles point, junior Ricky Cuellar and the three freshman in the line-up were able to win their singles matches to take the team victory. Cuellar, Michael Anders and Moritz Bernhoerster dispatched opponents in straight sets at three, four and six singles, while Chris Huynh needed a third set in a grueling, match-clinching contest.

Huynh won all three of his singles matches this week, and two of his three doubles matches. He improved to 8-5 in singles play this year, after coming in at the semester break. He is 2-0 in A-10 play.

Anders and Cuellar are 3-0 in league play, with Anders upping his singles mark to 13-9. Bernhoerster is now 14-9 overall in singles play, 13-8 in doubles play.

Charlotte returns home to host Wofford Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
