CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte men's soccer team had five players earn All-Conference USA honors. Sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Mackanos earned second team All-Conference USA honors. While, juniors forward Juan Munoz-Airey and defender Shane Carew earned third team All-Conference USA honors. Forward Mira Mupier and midfielder George Sheppard earned All-Conference USA freshman team honors.

Mackanos earned Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week three times this season. He became the first Conference USA men's soccer player to be named player of the week three times in a season since former Charlotte 49er David Hughes accomplished that feat in 1997. He recorded four shutouts on the season. He finished second in Conference USA with 107 saves. He currently has a 1.47 goals against average.

Munoz-Airey earned third team All-Conference USA honors for the second straight season. He enters the Conference USA Tournament tied for the team lead with seven goals including the only goal in Charlotte's 1-0 win over South Florida which propelled the 49ers into the Conference USA Tournament.

Carew also earned third team All-Conference USA honors for the second consecutive season. He was a main stalwart on the 49ers defense which had four shutouts and limited 13 opponents to a goal or less.

Mupier and Sheppard continue Charlotte's long line of stellar freshmen as the 49ers have had at least one player earn All-Freshman team honors for all seven years of Conference USA's existence. Mupier enters the C-USA Tournament tied for the team lead with seven goals. He enjoyed a stretch in the middle of the season in which he scored a goal in five straight matches. Sheppard is third on the team with three goals. He scored two goals in Charlotte's 3-0 win at TCU earlier this season.
