Five members of the Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team have earned All-Atlantic 10 honors. Senior Chris Salvaggione was named A-10 Offensive Player of the Year. Salvaggione also earned first-team All-Atlantic 10 honors for the second consecutive season. Junior Adam Gross earned honorable-mention All-Atlantic 10 honors. Freshman Evan James and Charles Rodriguez were named to the A-10 All-Rookie team. Junior David Martin and Gross were named to the A-10 Academic All-Conference team.

Salvaggione became the first 49er since Jon Busch, who was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Year, in 1996 to be named league Player of the Year. He is the first 49er since Mac Cozier, who was named Metro Conference Offensive Player of the Year, in 1994 to be named league Offensive Player of the Year. He is also the first 49er since Floyd Franks and Adam Ruud in 2004 and 2005 to earn first-team All-League honors in consecutive seasons.

The Monument, Colorado native led the Atlantic 10 in goals (15) and points (38) and ranks fourth nationally in points per game (2.00). His 15 goals are the fourth highest single-season total in school history and the most goals scored by a Charlotte player since Doug Pratt scored 18 goals in 1992. He led a 49ers offensive attack which scored 44 goals to rank seventh nationally in scoring offense at 2.22 goals per game. Salvaggione earned A-10 Player of the Week honors twice this season. He also was a two-time member of the Soccer America, College Soccer News and TopDrawerSoccer.com National Teams of the Week. He earned MVP honors after helping the 49ers capture the Davidson/Adidas Classic and the UNCW/Courtyard Marriott Classic titles this season. He scored two goals against Winthrop, Duquesne and St. Bonaventure.

Gross finished the season second on the team with six goals, six assists and 18 points. He ranked among the A-10 leaders in all three offensive categories. The Dripping Springs, Texas native was team captain and started all 19 games for a 49ers team that spent a large part of the season nationally-ranked.

Gross, who has a 3.74 GPA in Business Management, earned first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District honors a couple of weeks ago.

James finished tied with Gross for second on the team with six goals. He scored game-winning goals in Charlotte's victories over UNC Wilmington and Xavier. The Mississauga, Ontario native also scored the game's first goal at nationally-ranked Maryland.

Rodriguez started all 19 games on a 49ers defense that recorded six shutouts and limited 12 foes to a goal or less. He earned Defensive MVP honors at the UNCW/Courtyard Marriott Classic. The Franklin, Tennessee native recorded his first career assist in the 49ers victory over Duquesne.

Martin, who has a 3.55 GPA in Biology, earned Academic All-Atlantic 10 honors last season as well. As the 49ers goalkeeper, he anchored a Charlotte defense that recorded six shutouts and limited 12 foes to a goal or less this season. The Timnath, Colorado native has recorded 20 shutouts in his first three seasons at Charlotte.
