CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte men's soccer goalkeeper Lucas Mackanos has been named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for the for the third time this season. He becomes the first Conference USA men's soccer player to be named player of the week three times in a season since former Charlotte 49er David Hughes accomplished that feat in 1997.

Mackanos recorded fourth shutout of the season in Charlotte's 1-0 win at South Florida, Sunday. The win clinched the Niners a spot in the six-team Conference USA Tournament which begins this week in Tampa, Florida. Mackanos enjoyed his third double figure saves match of the season with his 10 saves in the match.

Mackanos has only allowed one goal in Charlotte's last five matches played on Sundays. He enters the Conference USA Tournament with 107 saves which is the second most in Conference USA. He currently has a 1.47 goals against average.

Charlotte enters the Conference USA Tournament as the fourth seed and will face fifth seed Cincinnati, Thursday, November 15 at 5:30 pm in Tampa, Florida.
