CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte men's soccer player Lucas Mackanos has been named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week.

Mackanos, a sophomore goalkeeper from Valparaiso, Ind., helped lead the 49ers to the Big Four Classic Crown by defeating ACC foes NC State, 4-1, and Duke, 1-0. In Charlotte's win over Duke, the Blue Devils had 20 shots but were unable to score as Mackanos recorded his third shutout of the season. He had He had ten saves against Duke and he had five saves against NC State. Mackanos has posted a shutout in Charlotte's last three Sunday games.

Mackanos has 87 saves and a 1.49 goals against average this season.
