CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Charlotte men's soccer player Lucas Mackanos was named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week.

Mackanos, a sophomore goalkeeper from Valparaiso, Ind., collected eight saves as he posted his second shutout of the season in the 49ers 1-0 win over Conference USA foe Marquette, Sunday, October 22. This marked Mackanos' second shutout of the season and his third of his career.

He earned Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week honors last season after posting a shutout of Virginia Tech in his first career start, September 24.

Mackanos has collected 73 saves and posts a 1.63 goals against average with two shutouts this season.
