Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers women's soccer team (6-5-0, A-10: 0-2-0) looks to tally its first Atlantic 10 win as its hosts Rhode Island and Massachusetts at Transamerica Field this weekend, October 19-21. First, the 49ers battle Rhode Island Friday, October 19 at 7 p.m. Then, Charlotte concludes the weekend against Massachusetts Sunday, October 21 at 1 p.m.
Charlotte enters the Rhode Island game having split their last two games. In their last meeting in October 2005, the Rams outscored the 49ers 4-1.
Charlotte has split its only two contests with Massachusetts, including a scoreless double-overtime thriller in September of last year.
Junior forward Chris Salvaggione leads the team in goals with six and assists with seven, ranking him second and first, respectively, in the A-10. He also has accumulated 19 points in eleven games, the highest point total in the conference. Senior Tom Woollard is not far behind with five goals, good for fourth in the A-10.
Admission for each game is $5 for adults and youth (17-and-under) are $2. Charlotte 49ers students are admitted free with a valid student ID.
