Charlotte, NC - Charlotte 49ers men's soccer senior forward Tom Woollard was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week after scoring two goals including the game-winner in the 49ers 4-0 win at Appalachian State last Saturday. Woollard is the second 49ers men's soccer player to claim Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors this season. Sophomore midifielder Luke Exley claimed the honor earlier this season. Woollard and Exley join former 49ers standout and current Chicago Fire midfielder Floyd Franks as 49ers men's soccer players that have earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors.
Woollard collected his first career multiple goal game when he scored the 49ers first two goals in their victory at Appalachian State. The 49ers victory stopped Appalachian State's eight match unbeaten streak.
The senior forward, who missed the 49ers first four games of the season recovering from an injury, is tied for the team lead in goals with three.
Woollard and the rest of the 49ers men's soccer team travel to Central Florida for their final non-conference game of the season, Wednesday, October 3 at 7 pm.
