Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team battles cross-county rival Davidson in their home opener at Transamerica Field this Saturday, September 15 at 7 pm.
Charlotte has posted a 6-0-1 record in home openers this decade and the 49ers are 23-7-1 all-time in home openers.
Sophomore midfielder Luke Exley, who earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honors this week, leads the team in assists with two and points with six. Exley and junior forward Chris Salvaggione are tied for the team lead in goals with two apiece.
This game will mark the 32nd meeting between the two teams. Charlotte leads the all-time series 16-9-6. Davidson won the last meeting between the two teams, 3-2 in overtime, September 1, 2005.
The Charlotte 49ers men's and women's soccer teams will honor Youth Soccer Month this weekend so it is a kids free weekend at Transamerica Field. Prior to the Davidson game, the 49er men's and women's soccer teams will host a free 49er Youth Soccer Clinic on the auxiliary fields at 5:30 p.m. After the clinic kids can head on over to the end zone at Transamerica Field to get autographs of 49er women's and men's players or be entertained with exciting inflatable activities before the Davidson game.
Admission to the game is $5 for adults. While youth (17-and-under) and all Charlotte 49ers students with a valid student ID are admitted free.
