CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Former men's soccer goalkeeper Jon Busch in his first ever MLS start for the Columbus Crew posted a 1-0 shutout over DC United last Saturday, April 27. He made two saves in the game.

This game marked his second appearance in goal for the Crew, who drafted him in the latest MLS Super Draft. He played goal for the final 31 minutes of the Crew's game against New England, April 20, which marked his MLS debut. He did not allow a goal in those 31 minutes.

Busch has played for Hampton Roads and Hershey in the A-League ever since he left Charlotte after his 1996 All-American season. In 2001, he was named the A-League goalkeeper of the year as he helped lead the Hershey Wildcats to the A-League finals.

Busch a three-year starter in goal for the 49ers from 1994-96. He was named first team All-American by the NSCAA in 1996, when he helped lead Charlotte to their first ever appearance in the College Cup. In 1996, the 49ers set a school-record with 19 wins. Busch was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year in 1996. He earned first team All-Conference USA honors three times.
