CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team lost to #3 Saint Louis, 3-1, in their final home match of the season. Charlotte's Mira Mupier scored his team-leading seventh goal of the season in the match.
"Saint Louis is a legitimate Top 10 team," Charlotte coach John Tart said. "They are the standard in Conference USA. I am proud of our effort as we had several chances to tie and win the match."
Saint Louis scored the match's first goal when Jack Jewsbury scored off a Mike Hill assist at the 72:44 mark of the match.
Charlotte had a chance to tie the score at a goal apiece with eleven minutes left in the match but Saint Louis goalkeeper John Politis stopped Charlotte's David Pedreschi's penalty kick.
Saint Louis increased their lead to 2-0 when Dipsy Selolwane scored after he corralled a deflection off a Charlotte defender at the 80:43 mark.
Charlotte cut the Saint Louis lead to 2-1 when Mira Mupier scored a breakaway goal at the 84:07 mark.
Saint Louis then made the final score 3-1 when Brad Davis scored on a penalty kick at the 85:34 mark of the match.
Charlotte will travel to Conference USA foe South Florida, Sunday, November 11 at 1 pm in their regular season finale.
