Charlotte, N.C. – Senior forward Chris Salvaggione made it a senior day to remember by tallying his 14th and 15th goals of the season in Charlotte’s 4-0 Atlantic 10 victory over St. Bonaventure.
In the 13th minute of play, Salvaggione took a set of one-touch passes from freshman Evan James and sophomore Andres Cuero and launched a shot past the Bonnies goalkeeper to give the Niners an early 1-0 advantage.
Charlotte would take a 1-0 lead into the halftime break before putting the pedal to the metal in the second half to put the Bonnies away.
Isaac Caughran got the second half off on the right foot when he took a pass from Cuero and beat an out of position St. Bonaventure keeper to give the 49ers some added insurance and a 2-0 lead.
Following Caughran’s tally, senior Kent Long scored his second goal of the season in the 61st minute of action off an Adam Gross pass to give Charlotte a 3-0 advantage.
Salvaggione would tally his second goal of the contest 9 ½ minutes later as he took a Long pass and beat the keeper to score his fourth goal of the weekend and 15th of the year.
The Monument, Colorado native’s 15 tallies places him in sole possession of fourth place on the single-season scoring list. His 15 goals are the most in a season since Doug Pratt found the back of the net 18 times in 1992.
Prior to the contest, Charlotte’s four seniors, Jeff Favitta, Ryan Swaim, Long and Salvaggione were honored for their time in the Green and White.
