COLUMBIA, SC - The Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team lost a tough hard fought game, 2-1, on the road at #11 South Carolina. With the loss the 49ers fall to 7-4-1 on the season. While South Carolina improved to 8-3-1 on the season.
"This was a very entertaining Division I soccer game," Charlotte coach John Tart said. "No team deserved to loss this match. I am very proud of the way our team played on the road against a very talented team. While I am disappointed with the result. I am not disappointed with the effort of our team tonight.
The 49ers took an early 1-0 lead when Mira Mupier off a Tim Flavin assist connected on a scoring shot that bounced off the crossbar into the goal in the ninth minute.
South Carolina tied the match at 1-1 when Jordan Quinn scored an unassisted goal in the 13th minute.
South Carolina scored the game-winning goal when Tim Glowienka scored on a direct kick just outside the penalty box in the 74th minute.
The 49ers return to action this Saturday, October 19 at Conference USA foe Marquette at 8 pm.
