Box Score

St. Bonaventure, NY - Tom Woollard and Chris Salvaggione scored for the Charlotte 49ers but it was not enough as the 49ers fell to St. Bonaventure, 3-2, in overtime on the road. With the loss, the 49ers fall to 6-5 on the season and 0-2 in the Atlantic 10.

"It was a disappointing result," Charlotte coach Jeremy Gunn said. "Again just like our game on Friday, we did not see the type of soccer that were used to seeing this entire season. But we will have to adapt to a different style of play from our opponents and get better. I am proud of the way we came back and took the lead after being down a goal. Then, St. Bonaventure tied the score with a scrappy goal in the second half. We had a couple of chances to win the game late in regulation but were uanble to put the ball in the back of the net. Then, St. Bonaventure won the game with a goal in overtime."

St. Bonaventure scored the game's first goal when Nick Lopez scored off a shot from eight yards out off a Stephon Bortolon assist in the 8th minute.

The 49ers tied the score when Woollard flicked the ball over St. Bonaventure goalkeeper David Flynn's head into the back of the net off a Salvaggione assist in the 15th minute. Woollard's goal was his fifth of the season.

Charlotte took the lead when Salvaggione blasted the ball into the upper right corner of the goal from 20 yards out in the 21st minute. Salvaggione's goal was his sixth of the season.

St. Bonaventure tied the score when Jon Lopez scored off a Tom Burkett corner kick in the 55th minute.

The 49ers had a great chance to score the game-winning goal when Bryan White found himself one-on-one with St. Bonaventure's goalkeeper Flynn. But White's shot was stopped by Flynn with one minute and 49 seconds left in regulation.

St. Bonaventure's Nikola Vasilev scored the game-winning goal on a shot from 16 yards out in the 99th minute.

The 49ers return to Transamerica Field next weekend for their first two Atlantic 10 home games, October 19-21. First, the 49ers face defending Atlantic 10 Tournament champion Rhode Island in their A-10 home opener, Friday, October 19 at 7 pm. Then, the 49ers conclude the weekend at home against A-10 foe Massachusetts, Sunday, October 21 at 1 pm.
