Milwaukee, Wisc. - The 49ers notched their second win over a nationally-ranked opponent by dousing #7 Marquette, 3-0, on the road in a key Conference USA matchup. The victory was the 200th career win for head coach John Tart. Earlier this season, the 49ers upset top 25 rival South Carolina, also on the road.

"I'm very proud of the way our team played, today," said Tart. "It was a great win especially at (#7) Marquette. Our players really stepped forward today. That was as good a game as we've played all season."

The 49ers (5-2-2, 3-1-1) took a 1-0 lead at 36:55 on a goal by sophomore Rob Evitts off a long assist from Joe Lampert. The 49ers, who outshot Marquette, 20-9, would settle for the 1-0 halftime lead before putting the game out of reach in the second half.

At 75:18, Tim Flavin knocked in a clearing attempt off a cross from Stephen Miller to give the 49ers a 2-0 lead. Miller notched the 49ers final goal on a breakaway at 81:49 off an assist from Ntando Tsambo.

Senior John McDonough posted his second shutout of the season, making three saves in the 49er net.

The 49ers play at Elon, Wednesday night.
