Final Stats

CHARLOTTE - Charlotte falls to #9 UAB, 2-1, in double overtime. This marked Charlotte sixth double overtime match in the first eight games.

"There is such a fine line between winning and losing," Charlotte coach John Tart said. "It appeared that for one minute that we had won the match in the second overtime. Then, all of sudden the UAB player connects on a great shot to give them the win."

UAB tied the score at 1-1 at the 58:50 mark. A Charlotte defender was called for a foul in the goalie box which gave UAB a penalty kick. Nelson Mata scored on the penalty kick to tie the score.

In the second overtime, it appeared that Charlotte had scored the game-winning goal when George Shepard headed the ball toward the goal off a Charlotte corner kick but the ball just hit the goalpost and UAB was able to clear it out.

Then, UAB's Mata scored his second goal of the match off a shot from about 25 yards out to give the Blazers the 2-1 double overtime win.
