Charlotte fell to Davidson 3-2 in Sudden Victory Overtime

Charlotte's Chris Wargin scored a goal in his third straight game

Charlotte, NC - The Charlotte men's soccer team jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on crosstown rival Davidson. But Davidson answered with three goals to come from behind to beat Charlotte 3-2 in sudden victory overtime.

With the loss Charlotte fell to 2-1 on the season while Davidson improved to 2-0-1.

Charlotte took an early 1-0 lead when Juan Munoz-Airey scored off assists from David McGill and David Pedreschi with just under nine minutes gone in the match.

Charlotte's Chris Wargin increased the 49ers lead to 2-0 when he scored his third goal of the season off an assist from Munoz-Airey at the 16:38 mark.

Davidson cut the 49ers lead in half when Justin Saunders scored off a Jon Tetirick assist at the 70:23 mark.

Davidson tied the score at 2-2 when Patrick Miller scored off assists from Erik Ozimek and David Buehler with 19 seconds left in regulation.

Davidson ended the game when Chris Norbet scored off assists from Justin Porter and Ozimek with just over two minutes gone in the sudden-victory overtime.

Davidson's win stopped Charlotte's six match winning streak in the series.

The 49ers return to action when they host DePaul, Sunday, September 10 at 2 pm.
