Stats

Charlotte - Charlotte loses to East Carolina 1-0 in their Conference USA men's soccer season opener.

East Carolina scored the game's only goal when Joe Ellington connected on a scoring shot right in front of Charlotte's goal off assists from Michael Logan and Andy Tabor at the 75 minute mark.

"We are disappointed in the result," Charlotte coach John Tart said. "We need to learn how to take better advantage of our scoring chances since we had 16 shots in the match. However, we have plenty of matches left to rebound from this loss."

Charlotte registered 16 shots including several serious scoring chances but were unable to connect on a goal past East Carolina goalkeeper Roger Marvinney.

Charlotte falls to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in Conference USA. While, East Carolina improves to 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in Conference USA.

Charlotte returns to action at the Memphis/Diadora Soccer Tournament this weekend, September 7-9.
