Charleston, SC - Charlotte defeated College of Charleston 2-1 in men's soccer exhibition action.
The exhibition match consisted of three 30 minute halves.
"I am pleased with our effort in our first match," Charlotte coach John Tart said. "We were able to get a 2-0 lead. Then, when Charleston scored we were able to keep that lead."
Charlotte jumped out to an early 1-0 when Rob Evitts scored on a Juan Munoz-Airey cross with just over two minutes gone in the match.
The 49ers increased their lead to 2-0 when George Shepard headed the ball into the goal off another Munoz-Airey assist at the 44:59 mark of the match.
College of Charleston scored their goal at the 65:48 mark when Jeff Files connected on a score off a Zachary Peoples assist.
Charlotte returns to action in their regular season opener when they host Gardner Webb, Friday, August 31 at Charlotte's Transamerica Field.
