7/2/2009 - Two members of the Charlotte 49ers men's soccer team were selected preseason All-Atlantic 10 in a vote by the league's 14 head coaches. Senior midfielder Adam Gross, who was a 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, was named to the preseason All-Atlantic 10 team. 7/1/2009 - Former Charlotte 49ers men's soccer All-American and Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire goalkeeper Jon Busch (1994-96) was just named to the United States Soccer Senior National team roster for the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Busch, who was the 2008 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, is one of three goalkeepers on the team. Busch, who played in the 2004 MLS All-Star game as a member of the Columbus Crew, posted a shutout against Colombia as a member of the United States National team in March of 2005. Read Full Release
5/29/2009 - Head coach Jeremy Gunn and the Charlotte 49ers men's soccer program have received ten commitments for the 2009 season. The ten commitments join a 2009 roster that features nine returning starters, 15 returning letterwinners and three redshirts (Owen Darby, Julien Brown-Lathem and Justin Tucker) off a 2008 49ers squad that earned the programs' first national ranking in ten years. Represented in this recruiting class are seven players from the state of North Carolina, including three from Charlotte's Catholic High School, as well as one player from Tennessee, Florida and Canada. Gunn welcomes Nate Badke, Patrick Eavenson and Donnie Smith all from Charlotte, North Carolina, T. J. Beaulieu from Apex, North Carolina, Klay Davis from Jacksonville, North Carolina, Tyler Gibson from Knoxville, Tennessee, Robert May from Asheville, North Carolina, Anthony Perez from London, Ontario Canada, Jennings Rex from Boone, North Carolina and Steven Saballos from Miami, Florida.
