Charlotte, N.C. - Charlotte 49er golfer Chris Tucker, who was a two-time team MVP during his four-year career from 1978-81, missed the cut at the 2008 U.S. Senior Open Championship at Broadmoor Golf Club in Colorado Springs, Colo., by one stroke.
Tucker finished the first two rounds at +9 after rounds of 77 and 72. The cut was made at +8.
Tucker played for the 49ers under long-time head coach Floyd Kerr from 1978-81. He was named team MVP in 1979 and 1980 and helped the 49ers to back-to-back Sun Belt Conference runner-up finishes in 1980 and 1981. He advanced to match play at the 1981 U.S. Amateur.
He turned professional in 1982 and posted a third-place finish at the 1992 Buick in San Diego.
Tucker was co-medalist during sectional qualifying at Pinewood Country Club in Asheboro, N.C. with a round of 67. He finished his qualifying round with three birdies, one par and an eagle.
