Charlotte, N.C. - Charlotte 49ers freshman Corey Nagy (Charlotte, N.C./Vance H.S.) has been named the A-10 Men's Golf Performer of the Week and Rookie of the Week, for the week ending April 15. Nagy led Charlotte to two tournament titles with a pair of top five individual finishes, last week. He shot under-par in all six rounds he played, last week.
Nagy began the week with a fifth-place showing at the Palisades Collegiate Classic in Charlotte, shooting a three-round -5, 211 (70-70-71). He shared honors as the 49ers top finisher in the event with junior Andrew DiBitetto as Charlotte topped the 18-team field that included top 10 foe Lamar.
Later in the week, Nagy placed third at N.C. State's Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate in Raleigh. The 49ers won that 15-team event, which included three more top 25 teams (North Carolina, Duke and Tulsa). Nagy shot a -6, 210 (71-70-69). It was his third consecutive top five finish.
This is the second time that Nagy has won both awards this spring. Nagy was named A-10 Golfer of the Week and Rookie of the Week, Mar. 19, after a fourth-place finish at the General Jim Hackler Invitational.
Five different 49ers have been named A-10 Player of the Week this year. Nagy and sophomore Stefan Wiedergruen have earned the award, this spring and Trevor Murphy, Ray Sheedy and Jonas Enander Hedin were all named A-10 Golfer of the Week in the fall semester. Nagy has now been named Rookie of the Week, three times.
