St. Charles, Mo. - Sophomore Sam McFall shot a three-round 219 and freshman John Samaha shot a 221 in his collegiate debut to lead the 49ers to a 13th-place finish at Missouri's Purina Classic.
The 49ers shot 299-293-304 -- 896 to place 13th in the 15 team field. Arkansas State (857) won the event, edging host Missouri (860) by three strokes.
McFall shot a career-best 69 in the second round but faltered in round three with a 79 to place T26th, individually, at six-over-par. Samaha shot a pair of 74's in the first two rounds and then carded a 73 to finish at eight-over-par, 221, in his first event of the year.
Junior Mike Shamp, who only had one round over par in the first two events of the fall, shot 76-73-77 -- 226 (+13).
