Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers shot an opening round of +12 to land in a tie for 9th at the prestigious PING/Golfweek Preview, Sunday. Oklahoma State leads the 15-team field, that includes many of the nation's top 25 teams, at five-under par. The second of three rounds will be played Monday with the final round slated for Tuesday.
The tournament is held at the site of the 2009 NCAA Championships: Inverness Club, on Sunday-Tuesday, Sept. 28-30. Charlotte is the defending champion of the PING/Golfweek Preview.
Senior Stefan Wiedergruen posted a one under par, 70 and sophomore Will Golden added +1, 72 to lead the 49ers. Senior David Rawluk shot +3, 74 for the 49ers. Junior Ryan Wilson posted a +9 and junior Corey Nagy shot +13 for Charlotte.
