Florence, S.C. - Junior Mike Shamp and sophomore Sam McFall carded identical rounds of 72-70 to finish tied for 4th at the Carolina First Intercollegiate at two-under par, 142. The duo led the 49ers to a ninth-place finish in the 15-team field.
UNC Wilmington won the event at -2, 574 as a team, two strokes better than Coastal Carolina, which record a team score of even par, 576. The 49ers team score was +12 (296-292 -- 588).
Shamp, who has carded four rounds of par or better in his five rounds of play this fall, currently is three-under par through five rounds. At the Mid-Pines Intercollegiate, he came in at -1 after rounds of 70, 72 and 73. His two-under showing at the Carolinas First Intercollegiate dropped his overall stroke average to 71.4.
