49ers Tied for Seventh at Boilermaker Invitational

West Lafayette, Ind. - The fouth-ranked Charlotte 49ers shot -2, 574 to tie for seventh after two rounds at the Boilermaker Invitational, Saturday. Michigan State and Indiana hold the two-round lead at 13-under-par, 563. Indiana surged to the top thanks in part to an opening round of -9, 63 by individual leader Jorge Campillo (63-68 -- 131, -13). The third and final round will be played Sunday.
Charlotte is led by senior Andrew DiBitetto, who posted rounds of 71-70 to finish tied for eighth at 3-under-par 141. Sophomore Corey Nagy also came in under par with a two-round, 143 (73-70, -1). Senior Trevor Murphy shot even par, 144 after rounds of 71-73. Senior Jonas Enander Hedin (+2) and junior Stefan Wiedergruen (+4) rounded out the 49ers scoring.
The 49ers are five strokes out of third-place. Illinois and Kent State are tied for third at -7, 569. Wisconsin is fifth at -5 and Purdue is sixth at -2. Charlotte and Eastern Michigan are tied for seventh at -2.
The Boilermaker Invitational is being played at the site of the 2008 NCAA Championships.
