Baton Rouge, La. - Due to extreme weather conditions, the three-day LSU Spring Invitational was reduced to 18 holes, with host LSU claiming the title at -9, 279. The Charlotte 49ers carded a +5, 293, in their best single round total of the spring season to finish 11th of 20 teams. The event was played at the par 72, 7274 yard University Club.
Rain forced cancellation of the day's first round on Friday. One round was completed on Saturday, but low temperatures, high winds and snow flurries cancelled Sunday's final round.
Junior Mike Shamp, who has shot par or better in two of his three rounds this spring, shot a two-under par 70 to lead the 49ers. Scott McNeil came in at even-par 72 and junior Michael Jolly shot a career-best 75 to help the 49ers.
Shamp finished tied for 11th individually while McNeil was tied for 27th.
