The 49ers are currently tied for fifth in C-USA (both divisions) but could move up to a tie for 4th in the league; 3rd in C-USA's American Division with a victory. The 49ers are 14-14 all-time vs. the Cardinals, including Louisville's 80-59 victory in Charlotte, Jan. 8. Charlotte is 5-8 at Louisville, but have won four of the last five there, with the one loss coming last year, 90-88 in OT. Head coach Bobby Lutz is 7-4 all-time vs. the Cardinals; 3-1 at Freedom Hall. Of note, the last time the C-USA Tourney was held in Louisville (2001), Charlotte won the title.

His 132 threes rank 7th all-time in NCAA history (chart on page 4) and he is hoping to become just the 2nd player in NCAA Div. I history to average at least 5.0 threes per game. He has broken the 49ers and C-USA's single-season record for threes in a season and for threes in C-USA games (76; 5.07/gm). He broke the 49ers single-game school record (shared by Brown; Diego Guevara and Henry Williams) with nine threes at UAB on his way to a career-high 32 points. The NCAA record for threes in a season is 158 (5.64/gm) by Darrin Fitzgerald of Butler in 1987. Fitzgerald is the only player to average at least 5.0 threes per game.

C-USA's Top Freshman Rebounder: Freshman forward Curtis Withers leads C-USA freshman in rebounding (6.6) and is 3rd among league frosh in scoring (9.9). And those numbers improve in C-USA play (10.4 ppg; 7.2 rpg). He could become just the 2nd 49er to be named to C-USA's all-Freshmen team (Rodney White, 2001). He has scored in double figures 15 times, including 10 of 15 C-USA games. He has three double-doubles, including a 15p-10r outing vs. Louisville and a 13p-13r effort vs. Houston.
