Chicago, Ill. - Based on the results of Saturday's games, seeds 4-12 have been confirmed for the 2002 Conference USA Men's Basketball Tournament, which will take place March 6-9 at the Firstar Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. All four first round games involving seeds 5-12 will take place on Wednesday, March 6, although the exact game times will not be determined until after the completion of Sunday's Memphis at Cincinnati game (1:00 p.m. EST) on ABC.

No. 5 seed Saint Louis (9-7 in C-USA) will have a first round rematch with No. 12 seed Tulane (5-11), a team the Billikens defeated on Saturday night in New Orleans, 67-59.

Houston (9-7) gained the No. 6 seed with its 76-72 win over UAB on Saturday night. The Cougars will face No. 11 seed East Carolina (5-11), a 66-63 loser to TCU on Saturday evening, in the first round.

Louisville (8-8) will enter the tournament as the No. 7 seed after posting wins over Cincinnati and Charlotte this past week. The Cardinals will battle No. 10 seed TCU (6-10) in the opening round.

South Florida (8-8), the No. 8 seed, will square off with No. 9 seed UAB (6-10) in Wednesday's other first round matchup.

Charlotte (11-5), a 90-88 overtime loser to Louisville on Saturday, will be the No. 4 seed and have a first round bye regardless of Sunday's result between Memphis and Cincinnati. The 49ers will face the winner of the #5 Saint Louis - #12 Tulane game.

The winner of Sunday's Memphis-Cincinnati game will be the top seed in the tournament. If Memphis wins, the Tigers will be the No. 1 seed, Cincinnati will be No. 2 and Marquette will be No. 3. If Cincinnati wins, the Bearcats will be the No. 1 seed, Marquette will be No. 2 and Memphis No. 3.
