Box Score

Halton Arena -- Charlotte 49ers senior forward E.J. Drayton scored 17 of his team-high 20 points in the second half as Charlotte raced past Wofford, 83-62, to extend its winning streak to three games. The 49ers trailed by as many as 10 in the first half, but rallied to take a halftime lead before pulling away in the second half. Charlotte outscored Wofford 48-29 in the second half.

De'Angelo Alexander added a double-double for Charlotte (6-6) with 14 points and 11 rebounds, Courtney Williams had a career-high 12 points and freshman Ian Andersen matched his career-high with 11 points. Leemire Goldwire scored 16 points, his highest scoring output since suffering an ankle injury at Mississippi State (Nov. 29).

Wofford (4-9), which has lost eight straight since winning at Cincinnati, 91-90, was led by Shane Nichols, who scored 23 points. Drew Gibson added 17 for the Terriers, who hit their first three three-point attempts to jump to a 9-0 lead and eventually led, 15-5, at 15:52. Wofford hit 10 three-pointers in the game, but after shooting .412 from long range in the first half (7-17), cooled to just .214 from three-point range in the second half (3-of-14).

Charlotte, which held a 27-15 rebounding edge in the second half, began to take control by asserting its inside game. Drayton scored 17 in the second half, while center Courtney Williams and Alexander each scored eight second-half points. Charlotte shot 50% in the second half (16-32), while taking only seven three-pointers.

Charlotte committed just eight turnovers -- the third straight game Charlotte has had 10 or fewer turnovers. The five players hitting double-figures is a season high for the 49ers, who enjoyed a double-digit rebounding advantage for the fourth time this year (4-0).

Charlotte has won three in a row for the first time this year.

Charlotte opens A-10 play, Thursday at Dayton.
