TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Chad Prewitt scored a career-high 23 points to lead Arizona State to a 91-78 victory over Charlotte in Saturday night's consolation game of the ASU Holiday Classic.

Prewitt hit 8 of 11 shots from the field to pace the Sun Devils (8-3).

Shawn Redhage added 19 points and 12 rebounds and Kyle Dodd, Alton Mason and Donnell Knight all had 15 points for Arizona State.

Rodney White led Charlotte (7-4) with 28 points.

Arizona State, which has struggled at times with its shooting this season, made 29 of 50 of its shots from the field. Charlotte had trouble with the Sun Devils' rugged defense and made only 41 percent of its field goal attempts.

There were six lead changes in the first half until a late 3-point surge put the Sun Devils in control. The Sun Devils scored nine-straight points on three 3-pointers - two by Prewitt - starting with 3:23 left in the half to go into intermission leading 43-35. Redhage scored 14 of his points in the first half.

Arizona State was up by eight points with 15 minutes left before going on an 11-1 run to pull away for good. Prewitt started the run with another 3-pointer. Charlotte got no closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
