Kingston, R.I. - Senior Leemire Goldwire scored a game-high 34 points to lead Charlotte past host Rhode Island, 74-64, in his regular-season finale. The win lifted the 49ers into a share of 4th-place in the A-10 standings. Due to tiebreakers, the 49ers will be seeded 6th in the upcoming A-10 Tournament, facing #11 seed Rhode Island, Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. in Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall.

Goldwire notched his sixth 30-point game of the season, tying the school record set by Henry Williams in 1990-91. He hit 10-of-21 field goals, including 6-of-13 three-pointers and knocked down 8-of-8 free throws.

With Charlotte leading by four, 63-59, with 2:49 to play, Goldwire knocked down his sixth three-pointer of the game to push the lead to seven. A Dijuan Harris steal and three-point play, four more Goldwire free throws and a free throw by Charles Dewhurst wrapped up the 10-point win. Goldwire outscored Rhode Island, 9-6, over the final 4:27 as Charlotte pulled away from a three-point lead.

Three of Charlotte's last four A-10 wins have been by double-figures.
